The Adventures of Courtney Marie – Portland & Cannon Beach, Oregon

I’m absolutely over the moon about Oregon. I’m ready to go back…like now. Any takers?

After convincing my dear friend Rosie that it would be a good idea to jump off a bridge (see the video below if you’d like to see a clip from that adventure) we headed to Portland. We were only in Portland briefly, but we roamed the streets stumbling upon an outdoor market, passing food truck after food truck, taking a little jaunt down the boardwalk, a little window shopping, and people watching. Oh the people watching there is to be had in Portland.

Before the sun set we caught a view of the city from Mt. Tabor park.the-adventures-of-Courtney-Marie-Portland-and-Cannon-BeachWhen we arrived in Cannon Beach (the morning after Portland) we were in dire need of some caffeinated beverages. Rosie found the Sleeping Monk on her phone so we headed in that direction. Okay people…if you are in Cannon Beach and want the best coffee with a laid back atmosphere go to the sleeping monk. Not to mention there are several cute shops surrounding the joint if you need some retail therapy.

I don’t have any pictures of the place but it’s worth mentioning. If you are in the area stop for a local brew and some fish and chips.

As the day drew to a close, in true photographer fashion, we headed to the beach. Our goal – Pretty sunset pictures featuring the local attraction Hay Stack Rock. In case it looks familiar, it was a filming location for the movie The Goonies.

We stayed the night in Seaside, a town just a few minutes North of Canon Beach. The next day before heading back to Washington, we stopped by Ecola State Park. The view was definitely worth the State Park entrance fee. With more time, there were lots of hiking trails to be explored.
